This is a stand-alone Yin Yoga & The 5 Elements training with Betty Papadopoulou & Andreas Karousos at Sunshine House...

You don’t need to be a teacher or even experienced in Yin, just come with an open heart and a willing mind. If you are a yoga or/and a yin yoga teacher, student, or lover, this training will expand your knowledge and help you in gaining new tools and experiences.

About the Five Elements

The cycle is one of the most symbolic forms in all Cultures. As a shape, it shows no beginning, no end. One of these endless cycles
is the eternal movement of the Five Elements. Five “transformations” in every whole cycle.

In the day it is the switching between night and day, in the year it is the alternation of the seasons, in our heart it is the time-space between
the heart beats. In this very simple but comprehensive concept, one can see and admire the continuity of life, of every creature,
every system that we know till now, even if this happens on Earth or also to the eternal space of the Universe.

Truly, someone could describe and explain every phenomenon that humans can observe as a part or as a whole of a Five Elements cycle.
This theory, practically applied in life, stands on the base of the Chinese & Eastern Healing Arts.

Merging the wisdom that the Five Elements embrace with the spirit and the practical application of Yin Yoga,
you will see and experience how they come together in creative and holistic practice.

About Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga uses gentle long held postures practiced with an attitude of compassionate acceptance to awaken the more Yin aspects of ourselves.

Together we will dive deeper into experiencing the Physical, Emotional, Mental, Energy and Spiritual body of the Yin Yoga asana,
mainly through the lenses of Chinese Medicine & the 5 Elements.

Fascia Theory and Myofascia Release Techniques, Chi Gong, rituals and ceremonies inspired by Taoism, Buddhism, and the traditions of Indigenous American Indian and African people, will assist our experience and will expand our awareness of this new magical world.

Through this understanding, we will explore more creative ways to lead a Yin class and to incorporate Yin postures and philosophy into our lives and into any practice. Cultivating body awareness through mindful practices results in personal growth and real wisdom.
Our aim is to share with you a mindful experiential training process.

Course Contents
From the aspect of the Five Elements the focus will be on:

  The meaning and nature of the Five Elements.
  Their relation to the Yin/Yang principles
  The basic laws that govern their transformations and relationships.
  One Element per day (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water).
  The Symbolizations, the Meanings, the Spirit, the Physiology and Emotional aspects…
  ...and more that will come on through our discussion on each one of the Five.

From the aspect of Yin Yoga the focus will be on:

  Yin Yoga asana
  Sequencing a Yin Yoga class through the understanding of the 5 element theory
  Fascia theory and Myofascia Release techniques
  Yin & Spiritual Medicine: Chi Kong & Practices of love, kindness, and personal growth
  Acceptance & Empathy: a basic understanding of the person-centered psychotherapy approach and how it relates with Yin

 

Schedule

7.15 – 9.00:   Meditation & Yoga
9.00 – 10.00:   Breakfast
10.15 – 13.15:   The 5 Elements (1 element per day)
13.15 – 16.00:   Lunch, Siesta, Beach or Pool time
16.15 – 19.15:   Yin Yoga & the 5 Elements
19.15:   Dinner, Sauna
20:45 – 22:00:   Yin Yoga, Kirtan, Primitive Dance, Rituals, Chi Kong. (4 late evening practices)

 


  Participants will receive a certificate of completion in a 50 hour Yin Yoga meets the 5 Elements Teacher Training.


 

    Start Date:   2nd June at 6 pm with dinner
    Finish Date:   8th June at 2 pm after lunch
